The Lord will bless a cheerful giver. With that in mind, cheerfully consider sending me $1000 “seed.” For your generous donation, I will say a special prayer for you and your finances and send you a prayer handkerchief that has been specially bless. Act quickly, and I will send you two handkerchiefs and you will receive a blessing in a double portion. You may charge it to your credit card and the very card that has contributed to your debt problem will be the way the Lord blesses you and wipes away that debt. You see, my $20 Million jet needs a little work done and the taxes are dew on my mansion and I know that the Lord will provide a way through givers like you to take care of my needs.
Oh yeah, I also have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you…
As you may have already figured out, I have a little problem with these prosperity- preaching tel-evangelists. I’m also really surprised at how gullible people can be.
The Scripture tell us that God DOES love a cheerful giver, but make sure you are giving for the right reasons and not just to help make somebody (or yourself) rich. The blessings you receive may not be in material wealth, it may be spiritual. You may be storing your treasures in Heaven by giving. The Bible also says you can’t serve God and Mammon (money), but some of these prosperity preachers are trying hard to do just that.
It would be wise to read, and heed, Matthew 6.
I’m not judging (condemning) these people, but their practices look pretty suspicious to me. I know I won’t be sending them any of my money. God will judge their motives and deal with them accordingly.
All that being said, you can do whatever you want to do and send what you want to send. I’m just asking that you think a little bit before sending money to any of these people.
Until next time…
