And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? -Revelation 6:15-17
A lot of churches today don’t want to talk about the wrath that is to come, and many won’t even touch the Book of Revelation. People have an image in their minds of the LAMB of God, as the one riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, or even the one sitting with children on His lap. These are pictures of the humble and meek Savior that He is.
In the near future, Jesus will be seen much differently. In the Book of Revelation there is a description of a time of total hell on Earth. Mankind, with the help of Satan, is going to literally try to wipe each other out. The wickedness is going to be unprecedented.
Basically, from Revelation chapter 4 through chapter 19, you will find a host of unimaginable things that will take place on the Earth. The problem is, many Christians don’t want to read the Book of Revelation and some don’t want to think about what it has to say.
Well, I say, you better read it! You need to find out what it says, not because I said so, but for your own good. I believe it’s the responsibility of the men of God to tell others what’s coming.
All that being said, let’s go back to the Scripture reference and talk about the terror of The Lord. When Jesus returns, He won’t be the humble LAMB of God, but the LION of the Tribe of Judah. Let’s look at the description of Jesus’ return found in Revelation 19: 11-16.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.
A well known actor was once asked “If you stood before God and could say anything, what would it be.” He replied, “I would say, ‘You have a lot of explaining to do’.”
I DON’T THINK SO!!! . I think this is a good example of people who don’t have the fear of The Lord. But, MARK MY WORD, those who don’t humble themselves and repent now WILL experience the fear of The Lord. This guy, like everyone else like him, will be face down, trembling before the Lord.
Just something to think about.
Until next time…
