And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. -Matthew 10:14
I recently saw on Facebook a debate between an atheist and a Christian. The Christian gave scripture after scripture and good sound doctrine to combat every arrow that the atheist had to throw. And regardless of what was said, the atheist just refused to listen. His mind was made up. It appears that these people think of themselves as more intellectual and intelligent than others.
As the scripture above shows, we are to go to these people and present the Gospel to them. However, if they do not receive what you say, what does Jesus tell us… to just shake the dust off your feet. That means, you do your job and then move on. I personally don’t believe we should argue with these people over and over again. I think I have enough brotherly love to tell then about Christ, and I would pray that they would accept Christ. I also have enough tough love to realize that that’s as far as I can go. I’m not going to beg and plead with them. If they don’t believe, that’s their choice.
I believe that Christians should not let themselves be used as a whipping post. To often, because of our love for Christ, Christians are taken advantage of. These people argue with Christians just for the sake of arguing.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools- Romans 1:22
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.- Psalm 14:1
I think these scriptures speak for themselves. We as Christians have the highest form of education there is; it comes directly from God Himself. All we have to do is read and study it.
As Ripley’s said; believe it or not! (LOL)
Until next time…
